You’ll start with Adobe Premiere Pro, learning how to navigate the interface, import projects and configure settings. From there, you’ll dive into video editing – mastering transitions, effects and motion graphics. We’ll also cover audio and graphics, ensuring crisp sound and eye-catching visuals.

Learn beyond the basics

Take your skills further with advanced tools, including After Effects, for creating dynamic content. Learn how to export projects in different formats while working with codecs. Our videography course also explores lighting setups for interviews, product shots and cinematic storytelling, plus stabilisation techniques using gimbals and tripods.

Skills for a lasting career

Beyond the tech, you’ll develop critical thinking, problem-solving and how to expand your creative side, plus building a marketing strategy for video content.

  • You live in the West Midlands
  • You’re aged 19 or over 
  • You earn below the gross annual wage cap of £34,194
  • You’re not currently undertaking any other government-funded training 
  • You’re not in the UK on a student, graduate, postgraduate or sponsorship visa, or as a dependent of someone who is

Get comfortable with the world’s leading video editing software as you learn to navigate the interface, import projects and choose the right settings for a smooth workflow. From simple cuts to advanced transitions, effects and graphics, you’ll sharpen your editing skills.

Working with audio

Learn how to fine-tune audio levels to make your videos sound as polished as they look.

Advanced editing techniques

Take your editing to the next level with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. You’ll explore video codecs, encoding and exporting your work in multiple formats for different platforms.

Introduction to lighting

Lighting can make or break a shot. You’ll master the basics of key, fill and back lights to create professional setups for interviews, product photography and cinematic shots.

Introduction to Gimbals and Tripods

Learn to use gimbals and tripods to capture stable, smooth footage and dynamic camera movements that bring your visuals to life.

Videographer – £22,000-£35,000

A videographer is the person behind the camera, capturing stunning footage for films, ads, events and social media. You’ll master camera operation, lighting setups and composition to bring ideas to life. Whether it’s a high-energy promo or a cinematic short, you’ll know how to shoot it all.

Motion Graphics Designer – £30,000-£45,000

If you love animation and visual effects, this is for you. A motion graphics designer creates dynamic visuals, from animated logos to eye-catching title sequences. Using tools like After Effects, you’ll blend video, typography and special effects to make content pop.

Content Creator – £22,000-£38,000

As a content creator, you’ll produce videos tailored for digital platforms: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and beyond. From brainstorming creative concepts to filming and editing, you’ll craft scroll-stopping content that entertains, educates and engages audiences. 

Social Media Video Specialist – £24,000-£40,000

This role focuses on creating high-performing video content for brands and businesses on social media. You’ll optimise videos for different platforms, keep up with the latest trends and use data insights to make sure your content reaches the right audience.

Camera Operator – £24,000-£40,000

A camera operator is all about precision and technique. You’ll be in charge of setting up and operating professional cameras, capturing smooth, well-composed shots for everything from films to live broadcasts. You’ll also work closely with directors and lighting crews to achieve the perfect look.

Lighting Technician – £25,000-£45,000

Lighting can make or break a video, and a lighting technician ensures every shot is perfectly lit. You’ll set up and adjust lighting rigs, create mood and atmosphere and work on everything from interviews to large-scale productions. Understanding cinematic lighting techniques is key to nailing this role.
